Polish Early Buddhism Society (PEBS) was founded out of the need to create a lasting, authentic support for spiritual practice based on the Early Buddhist Texts.

Our mission is to support living in accordance with the Dhamma—both in the context of individual practice for laypeople and by creating conditions for the development of monasteries in Poland.

We strive to ensure that the Buddhist community in our country has access to teachings and teachers—both monks and nuns—rooted in the oldest traditions of Buddhism. We believe that monastic life, as well as mindful and engaged lay life, can provide real, lasting support for those who wish to live in accordance with wisdom and compassion.

The project of establishing monasteries in Poland is being developed in collaboration with Ajahn Brahma’s Australian Sangha. It is Ajahn Brahm and Ajahn Brahmali—recognized teachers and spiritual leaders—who will be at the heart of this initiative, and together with them we will make all key decisions concerning the emerging Polish Sangha. Their many years of experience in leading the Bodhinyana Monastery offer us a unique opportunity to create something deep, stable, and serving generations to come.

The monasteries under development will also be places where monks and nuns can be ordained—not only from Poland but from across Europe. This is an incredible opportunity for those who have long sought such possibilities in the spirit of Early Buddhism in Europe.
