Visākha Pūjā Celebration

Visākha Pūjā Celebration

Dear Friends in Dhamma,

We are happy to remind you that on Sunday, May 31st, 2026, we celebrate Visakha Puja, also known as Vesak or Wesak — the most important Buddhist holiday in the Theravāda tradition, observed on the full moon of the Visākha month. It commemorates three key events in the life of Gautama Buddha: His birth, Enlightenment, and Parinibbāna (final passing away).

It is a day of gratitude and paying homage to the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha through the practice of generosity, observing the precepts, meditation, and listening to the teachings of the Dhamma. In the Buddhist tradition, it is emphasized that the highest form of homage is to embody the Buddha’s teachings in daily life — cultivating mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion.

The most beautiful way to celebrate Visākha Pūjā is not merely by offering flowers to the Buddha, but by practicing in such a way that our own minds gradually become more and more free.

We warmly recommend the Dhamma talk “Visakha Puja” by Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo.

May the light of the Buddha illuminate our hearts, and may the practice of Dhamma lead us toward peace, wisdom, and inner freedom.

On this occasion of Visākha Pūjā, we wish all beings peace, kindness, and awakening.

With mettā!
